Query letters and synopses. Everyone hates writing them. Sometimes they feel like just another hoop you’re being forced to jump through. And half the time, after you’ve spent hours crafting the damn thing, you don’t get so much as the courtesy of a reply.

With that in mind, we’ve tried to keep our submission process as simple as possible. First, read to the end of the page to make sure your book is the kind of thing we’re looking for. Then:
  1. Compose an email with the word QUERY somewhere in the subject line.
  2. In the body of the email, paste the first three chapters of your book. That’s it. No polite greetings, comps, bios or other filler required.
  3. Send your email to and await a reply. We will reply. It would be rude not to. And if we want to see more of your work, we’ll take it from there.
What we're looking for:
  • Great writing
  • Fully rounded characters with their own motivations and struggles
  • Diversity by default
  • Strong female friendships
  • A complex plot is absolutely fine. YA readers are some of the most intelligent readers on the planet; they can handle it. They don't need spoon-feeding, hand-holding or other things associated with toddlers.
Which brings us to what we're not looking for:
  • Love triangles. They've been done to death. Unless you have something very interesting to say about them, don't bother.
  • A female protagonist whose 'specialness' is highlighted by tearing down all the other girls she meets. See strong female friendships.
  • Anything that isn't fantasy of some kind. Our slogan should have made that clear, but you know. Just in case.

"Sorry, it's not for us?"

Rejection sucks; there's no denying it. However, please remember that we are the tiniest of small presses and can only take on a handful of titles every year. As such, we’ll receive many amazing submissions that we simply don’t have the capacity to accept. So don’t take it personally, and don’t give up.
